Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to in-house call situations, providing timely consultations and interventions for hospitalized patients with GI conditions.
- Perform a variety of inpatient GI procedures, including ERCP (required) and potentially EUS (highly preferred) to diagnose and treat complex GI issues.
- Collaborate effectively with the emergency department to manage patients presenting with GI emergencies.
- Conduct comprehensive inpatient consultations and provide ongoing care management for patients with a variety of GI conditions.
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently within the Cerner EMR system.
Qualifications for Success:
- Current board certification in Gastroenterology or eligibility within 3 years of residency completion is mandatory.
- Valid and active medical license in the state of Iowa or an active Interstate Medical License Compact (IMLC) is required.
- Current ACLS certification is mandatory.
- A willingness and ability to work within an inpatient setting is essential.
- Experience performing ERCP is required.
- Experience with EUS is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients, colleagues, and staff.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment is crucial.
